Mitt Romney visits VA Beach with usual message of small business and military support

Mitt Romney came to Virginia again on Saturday, giving his usual colloquy about supporting Virginia’s small businesses and military to a crowd of supporters in Virginia Beach.

Romney reminded the crowd about his commitment to a “strong” military as well as his pledge to halt the potential sequestration cuts (as if it were up to him alone) that could eliminate 100,000 to 200,000 jobs in Virginia.[1]

Romney also spotlighted his support for small businesses. By support, Romney must have meant his efforts to “cut the fat” from the American workforce in order to enrich his own pockets.[2]

Of course, a Republican Party rally wouldn’t be complete without the rural yokel charging the federal government with intrusive policies. Said a local hog farmer at the rally, “I didn’t see a government official milking that cow,” referring to his story about working on a dairy farm as a kid.[3]

All of these talking points and messages were of course meant to present a contrast with the policies and goals of President Obama.

For anyone who believes in Mitt Romney’s bold-faced lies, I have a bridge to sell them too.

With regards to the sequestration, President Obama has made it clear that he intends on compromising in order to avoid this economically devastating process from occurring.[4] But, Republicans in Congress will also have to do a little compromising of their own if they truly wish to avoid sending hundreds of thousands of Americans, if not millions, into the unemployment lines.

President Obama has also made it clear that he will pursue policies that promote a strong U.S. military while reducing the outrageous spending that has occurred throughout the armed services.[5]

In order to cap off his cascade of half-truths and plain falsehoods, Romney made his way over to the Federated Auto Parts 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race, presumably to check up on his stock car investments and maybe shake a few hands with the common folk.

Hats off to Mitt Romney, he’s taken political hypocrisy into an entirely different dimension.
