Tim Kaine meets with small defense contractors to listen to their concerns

At a meeting with small defense contractors in Northern Virginia on Friday, U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine listened to the suggestions, observations, and complaints regarding the process for federal contracting.[1]

According to one defense contractor consultant, a “climate of fear” has made it difficult for small contractors to fend off their larger counterparts.[2]

Tim Kaine responded by noting that as Virginia’s governor, Virginia’s procurement contracts with small businesses grew from 13 percent to 43 percent by the end of his tenure.

Indeed, throughout his tenure as Governor of Virginia, and now as U.S. Senate candidate, Kaine has paid close attention to the concerns of America’s defense contractors.[3]

During the meeting in Merrifield, Kaine also noted that it’s a “terrible indictment of Washington and Congress that nobody’s willing to compromise even with the prospect of a fiscal cliff.”

Thus, Virginian’s can expect a U.S. Senator that is willing to reach across the political and ideological isle to safeguard Virginia’s and America’s best interest.

Furthermore, instead of following the George Allen economic plan of “cut, cut, cut,” Kaine has advocated an infrastructure investment approach that will spur growth in broad sectors of the U.S. economy.[4]
Tim Kaine has always struck me as a political figure keenly in tune with the individuals he is governing for.

Whether or not I always agree with Tim Kaine’s policy positions, I’m always sure that he feels his position looks out for best interests of Virginians and the country as a whole. I cannot say the same for George Allen.
