Speaking in front of a crowd of 620 onlookers at Virginia
Tech on Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden beat the Romney-Ryan duo with a
vituperative stick that focused on their goals to enact policies that favor the
wealthy of the U.S.[1] Biden claimed that the Republican
presidential ticket would ultimately plunge the U.S. into a national recession.
Biden opined, “The very plans that Ryan voted for and Romney
supported put America’s greatness in jeopardy.” ‘Papa’ Joe went on to explain
that Ryan’s pick as vice presidential candidate makes it clear that a Romney
presidency would favor the wealthy of America.
While speaking, Biden repeated a line President Obama used
during his visit to Roanoke in July, saying that Democrats wish to “grow the
economy from the middle-class out.”[2]
For all of the criticism that Vice President Biden drew for
his comment that Republicans are “going to put y’all back in chains,” the policies
supported by many Republican Party members justifies such a statement.[3]
Thus, the outrage publicly displayed by some within the
Republican Party is an attempt to downplay the obvious policy contrast between
both parties, that between support of the wealthy and support of the middle
class.
The Democratic Party shouldn’t crawl into a corner like it
usually does whenever the Republican Party cries uncle. The facts are plain for
anyone to see and middle class America needs a vocal and powerful champion to
defend itself from the growing onslaught of America’s wealthy (i.e. the
Republican Party).
Vice President Biden’s speech at Virginia Tech made it clear
that the Obama administration will continue to make this presidential election
about a choice between a party of the wealthy and a party that throws its
policy net around a wider portion of the American population.
The Republican Party clearly supports the former.
